Archbishop Greg Aymond
We were honored, and made history last year,  when the
first native-son Catholic Archbishop in New Orleans chose our event to be his first "official act" and shared the opening prayer for the day's events.  Fortunately, he has agreed to return to be the keynote speaker for this years 1:30pm slide show.   He is truly a man  for "all people."

The 1:30pm slide show will include the story of First Responder Troy Lyles which will leave your heart touched to the core with the power of song.

In the immediate days following Hurricane Katrina, despite the chaos and the lawlessnes that existed, thousands among thousands of New Orleans residents turned to one another generously sharing food and water, often with strangers.

Once the city was evacuated, those who stayed behind, first responders, rescue workers, volunteers etc., were fed by the generous donations of individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses.

It is this generosity which is the inspiration behind "Share the Moon" providing attendees with complimentary jumbalaya and bottled water.

Thus, restauranteur extraordinaire Anjay Keswani has agreed to work his magic by coordinating the feeding of the multitude, just as he did in 2009.

Not only did they feed thousands after Katrina, but it was a place of refuge for dozens of First Responders.  Thank you once again for your generosity.

To help capture the spirit of the event in 2009, "Share the Moon" facilitated the reunion between First Responders Sgt. Scott Watson (LDWF), Lt. Kim Williams (NOPD) and Kelli Arnold RN,  who were responsible for rescuing and caring for Waldrica Nathan Brundy and her newborn son James Brundy Jr.  Waldrica gve birth to James Jr. in an attic surrounded by flood waters at 2727 Metropolitan in the 9th Ward the day after Hurricane Katrina.

THANK YOU!!!

"Share the Moon" is a grass roots family event organized to honor and thank first responders, their families as well as  vicitims, survivors, volunteers and ALL who have embraced so courageously and generously the challenges brought upon us by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

But we are not stopping there.

Sharing the moon is not only a source of unity for loved ones separated during Hurricane Katrina, (Read more:
The Inspiration ), it is also our way to show solidarity and support to all facing crisis, whether flood victims in Tennessee, quake victims in Haiti or victims of conflict in Afghanistan.

It is our desire that a spirit of hope and resiliency, which continues to be a source of nourishment for those here in New Orleans,  may also sustain those around the world during difficult times.

"Share the Moon" is funded strictly by donations and a desire to help promote healing and community.
First repsonders, families and friends are responsible for the organization, production and performances.  It is simply our way of trying to bring a sense of hope, goodness, and meaning from one of the worst natural and man made disasters in the modern history of the United States.

Thank you for visiting.
